Siemens announced that it is going to fundamentally change its activity by reorienting its business to software development. This decision is marked by the necessity to dismiss 3.800 employees worldwide, 2,000 of them being in Germany. The Company is going to perform a transfer of 3,000 employees and half of them are German also. Siemens wants to start negotiations with unions as soon as possible, as it is going to sell its plants in Brazil, Greece and Germany. Other plans include selling its call centers worldwide, which will affect approximately 1000 employees. The new strategy is a consequence of large losses that Siemens have been struggling with during years while operating as a mobile phone manufacturer.
