The report is devoted to Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile operating systems and smartphones that run them. Key points are as follows: • BlackBerry 8300 (Curve) is the most popular RIM smartphone. It left behind BlackBerry 8100 (Pearl) and has 45% of traffic. Verizon mobile Internet is mostly accessed from BlackBerry Storm handsets that generate 38% of traffic. • The most popular mobile devices running Symbian and Windows Mobile are much older than RIM smartphones. Nevertheless, most of the worldwide Symbian devices traffic is generated by Nokia N70 mobile phones and makes 17%. • Among Windows Mobile devices Samsung Blackjack II is mostly used. It is interesting that the mobile Internet is generally accessed from phones running operating system that is several years old. • Within the USA 5% of traffic is generated by mobile devices running Android. Not long ago HTC Dream (G1) was the number 13 mobile device in the US with 1.7% and now is the number one handset on the T-Mobile network. Top Smartphones and Operating Systems • Worldwide traffic generated by smartphones in February 2009 reached 33%, up from 26% half a year ago. • Symbian remains the most popular operating system with 43% of traffic from 6
