The model Samsung F330 is a stylish mobile phone realized in the slide form factor and belonging to the music range Beatz. The collection is meant to compete with other major manufacturers, which had already launched equivalent series like Xpress Music (Nokia), or Walkman (Sony Ericsson). The cell phone is equipped with two cameras: the rear 2.0 MP camera and the front VGA camera for video calling backed up by the HSDPA support. It is necessary to note also the touch sensitive control keys. The handset has stereo FM radio, 20 MB of integrated memory and a MicroSD slot for expanding the built-in storage. Besides the handset, the retail package is packed with the User Guide, Software CD, and a Travel Adapter.
Design and functions
The front is made up from a mirror like surface that covers entirely the TFT display, two soft keys and the answering keys, all of them touch sensitive. This idea will, thereafter, underline the presence of the D-pad, which simultaneously shares dedicated music functions and is the most important characteristic of being a music phone. The dedicated key that launches or minimizes the Music Player is on the bottom. The right border holds the power button, the microSD slot and the dedicated camera button. On the left side we find the volume rocker, the headset slot and a special button that switches you between various running applications. By sliding up the phone, the alphanumeric keypad is unveiled. The keypad is approximately flat with a white backlight to help reading it in the dark. The menu is easy to navigate thanks to a simple User Interface and an additive confirmation of the fact that the phone received the command entered via the touch sensitive keys. The messaging options available with Samsung F330 are MMS and SMS, but there is still available the e-client, that lets you setup e-mail accounts on this phone. In this section, there are some folders that makes all the messages look more organized: In box, E-mail In box, Drafts, Outbox, Sent box, My folders and Templates. The music player gets the same template and features as on previous versions. There are possibilities to sort music files and to synchronies them with Windows Media Player. The FM Radio can be set up both ways: manual and automatic tuning.
Camera
Samsung F330 is also designed to handle high speed data transfer, and offers some utilities regarding it. One of them is blogging that lets you upload photos and video clips directly on the web. The RSS feed is another benefit to be mentioned at this chapter. And not the last connectivity option is to directly print documents or picture files on a printer. The main camera is on the rear side and can only be used when the phone is in the open position. There is no flash LED. Instead of it you will find the portrait mirror. The maximum resolution for a 2MP camera is 1600x1200 pixels, for shooting video clips the maximum is 240x320 pixels. The camera menu is slightly modified, and those changes are positive. From the same menu you can control a lot of aspects, like the picture quality, shooting mode, and the multiple effects that can be applied up front of taking pictures. One of the accessories that perfectly match the style and orientation of this slider is the SBH 170 Bluetooth headset, that playbacks stereo music for up to 7 hours. Among all the features available with this handset is the hot swap feature that enables you to quickly change the memory card with another one at a glance. The only thing that must be marked for the down side is the “magical” ability of the front cover to attract fingerprints whenever possible.
