The number of broadband Internet users in China reached 93.5 million, reports Xinhua, referring to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. In total, the network in the Middle Kingdom fell 338 million people, this figure exceeds the population of the United States.
Access to the network is in most of the settlements of China, namely, 95 per cent of the inhabitants of towns and villages is available online. Approximately 92.5 percent of villages have a point of entry into the network via modem.
Most of China's Internet users use Internet for entertainment and communication in social networks and news reader. Also, the number of Chinese who purchase something through the network has grown from 14 million to 87.9 million over the past six months.
Despite the growing number of Internet users in China has strict filtering system of information available on the Internet. According to some sources, a network censor for about 30 thousand people. At first in July 2009 was scheduled introduction of a national system for filtering the Internet, but this initiative was postponed. The reason was technical limitations do not allow the system to run on time.
