Despite the outstanding achievements of Apple and RIM (manufacturer BlackBerry) companies, the American mobile phones market shows negative dynamics - in the II-nd quarter of 2008, according to NPD, the mobile phone sales have decreased with 13 % up to 28 million.
Most of all, Motorola has suffered - if one year ago its share was 32 %, now, accordingly with the II-nd quarter results - only 21 %.
It is a disturbing signal for investors. The mobile division of the company is in deep crisis - its global market share is kept mostly due to the American market. But if the USA market share of the company will continue to decrease, the shareholders most likely will not support the separation of the mobile division in a single company - considering that its losses still make hundreds of million dollars.
