Sharp has developed the LR0GC02 solar module that will contribute to the further development of solar-powered mobile devices. The module is 0.8 mm thick and is the thinnest of its kind in the whole world.
The thickness of LR0GC02 is achieved by compact semiconductor packaging technology. The solar cells of the module are based on polycrystalline silicon and can deliver power up to 300 mW with the output voltage of 4.5 V and maximum load current of 67 mA. LR0GC02 has dimensions of 67.5 x 41.0 x 0.8 mm.
Sample price (tax included) of LR0GC02 is 3,000 yen (equals approximately EUR 23). Mass production of the modules is expected to start on July 10, 2009. Sharp is planning to manufacture 100,000 units a month.
