Lee Kun Hee, ex-chairman of Samsung directors’ board, has been declared guilty of evasion from taxes and he has received a conditional three-year prison sentence and a penalty of $110 million. The prosecutors insisted on a seven-years sentence.
Lee, who has retired in April after he had been accused, had apologized: "I apologize that I’ve caused so much troubles to people". In 1996, Lee has already been found guilty of bribery to two ex- presidents of South Korea, he was sentenced to two years of prison conditionally, but has been pardoned by the president Kim Young Sam.
The Samsung Company is one of the largest corporations of South Korea, incorporating 18 % of all Korean export.
