France Telecom has refused the plan of absorbing the TeliaSonera holding. The official version is that the parties could not agree about mutually advantageous conditions of the transaction. France Telecom offered to shareholders $42 billion cash, however the transaction has been rejected by both private shareholders and the Swedish government, which possesses 43,5 % of the holding actions. Therefore, after the announcement that France Telecom has the intention to buy TeliaSonera, its actions price has fallen in with 21 %.
If the transaction would be made, in Europe would have appeared the largest operator of communications, serving 237 million of subscribers. Thus, the costs, by 2013, also would have decreased by 700 million euro.
