Toshiba and NEC have developed a special technique in which the flashing LEDs can transmit information to mobile phones with the help of light.
While this technology will be used mainly in advertising. For example, if a person is to attract bright LED advertising sign, and he wants to get more information about the institution on which it is located. It would not necessarily enter into the institution, and it will be possible - just to put a sign on his cell phone, which interprets the flashing LEDs in the text information.
Currently, Japanese companies developed technology that allows you to read information from the sign area of one square meter at a distance of five meters. LEDs are capable of flashing at a speed of up to four million times per second. This flashing is not perceived by the human eye, but can send a fairly large amounts of information. Compared with the QR-code, new technology offers more advantages. For example, the flashing LEDs are capable of transmitting large amounts of information and easily change it if necessary.
Commercial use of this technology will begin in 2013.
