The representative of the American intelligence services engaged in the exploration, acknowledged the surveillance of suspects using smartphones. If necessary, employees can view the geolocation data (location data) of the citizens without their knowledge. This statement was made by leading legal counsel the National Security Agency, Matthew Olson, during a speech at a meeting of the Senate Committee on Intelligence.
On the question of Senator Ron Wyden, whether the possibility of power with the help of GPS data to monitor the movement of citizens within the United States Olson said: "There are certain circumstances under which such powers are possible." In detail, he did not go and at the moment is not known on what grounds can be such surveillance.
Just Matthew Olson reported that the NSA currently is working on a report that will give a detailed answer to this question. Most likely, this report will be read out in September this year.
